2024 Game of the Year nominees announced

Gamers have a chance to make their voice heard in the Game Awards after dozens of nominees in over 20 categories were announced. From Best Adaptation to the vaunted Game of the Year (GOTY) title, there’s plenty for fans to choose from this year.

Competition is fierce among the GOTY nominees. They include surprise hit “Black Myth: Wukong”, “Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth”, Atlus’s latest JRPG “Metaphor Refantazio”, FromSoftware’s celebrated expansion “Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree”, Sony’s “Astrobot”, and the hit roguelike “Balatro”.  Each title was nominated for the Best Game Direction award as well.

There were a few pleasant surprises in the Best Action/Adventure category. Nominees include “Silent Hill 2”, “Star Wars: Outlaws”, “The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom”, “Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown”, and “Astro Bot”.

In the Action Category, “Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2” is going head-to-head with “Hell Divers 2”, “Stellar Blade”, “Black Myth: Wukong”, and “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6”. Meanwhile, the recently released Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero punched its way to a “Best Fighting Game” nomination. Stepping into the ring with Namco’s Z Fighters are the combatants of “Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising”, “Multiversus”, “Marvel vs Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics”, and the iron king of fighting games “Tekken 8”.

Moving away from consoles, five adaptations were chosen to compete for the Best Adaptation title. “Arcane”, “Fallout”, “Knuckles”, “Like A Dragon: Yakuza”, and “Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft”.
