Sinclair mourns the death of longtime Tartan Julie Harmon

The extended Sinclair family is mourning the loss of Julie Harmon after her death was recently announced by loved ones. Harmon worked at the college for over two-decades, serving in a variety of roles before her untimely passing on Sep. 22 2024. She was just 50 years at the time of her death.

Family members and colleagues said their final goodbyes to Harmon on Sep. 30 at Kindred Funeral Home in Englewood. A memorial service in honor of Harmon was also held today at St. Paul Catholic Church.

LaTasha Ross, who worked with Harmon for two years, described her colleague as a highly positive spirit that will sorely be missed.

“Julie was always a bright spirit, great personality, and very positive. That is how most people on campus will remember her,” Ross told The Clarion.

A graduate of Wayne High School and Sinclair, Harmon began working at the college in 1992. She started as a student worker and would eventually rise to the role of Certification & Licensure Coordinator in the college’s HR Department. Additionally, Harmon worked for Northmont City Schools as a teacher’s aide.

According to her obituary, Harmon is survived by her husband Brett, children Ryan and Shaelyn, as well as her parents David and Sharon Johnson. Messages of condolence can be shared online at www.kindredfuneralhome.com
