Parking lot maintenance slated to finish soon

Annual maintenance is ongoing in parking lot A. Level 3 West of the lot, also known as the student garage, is receiving a new membrane. Applying a membrane protects the lot from excessive wear and tear and will help ensure the longevity of the parking lot. The tentative opening date for this section of the parking lot is Monday, September 19.

The supply chain has been impacted deeply in the last year. Because of this, Sinclair’s construction contractor wasn’t able to acquire the membrane before the fall term began, according to Paul Murphy, business services director at Sinclair. The materials needed have since been received and the contractor is working diligently to finish the project. The project will take a little while longer as they apply the membrane, let it cure, and apply new striping to the lot.

Lot A is important to the student body, especially during this part of the year, when weather can begin to get very hectic and can cause commutes to be longer as well as more difficult for students and faculty. When Level 3 opens, the roof of the parking lot may close for the fall and winter due to inclement weather. Sinclair’s goal is to limit parkers from being exposed to inclement weather and help facilitate safe travel to and from the downtown Dayton campus.

In addition to the annual lot maintenance, work continues on the project in the tunnel between buildings 3 and 4 and Lot A. No changes have been announced to its Oct. 31 re-opening date.
