Two more members of the Sinclair Pride locked up Player of the Week honors on April 30, giving the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference champions a school-record six winners on the season.
Freshman pitcher Billy Kitchen earned the pitching award after dominating Owens Community College, 6-0, in Sinclair’s second game of the conference tournament with a complete game shutout. Kitchen, a Miamisburg grad, allowed two hits and struck out seven.
“(Kitchen) was absolutely lights out,” Sinclair coach Steve Dintaman said.
Sophomore infielder Taylor Hoisington locked up the POTW award after aiding the Pride to the conference title with strong production from his bat. Hoisington knocked in six RBIs and stole two bases in the OCCAC Tournament.
The Pride (34-10) swept their way through the tournament for the first time in school history and is riding a 10-game win streak, as of May 7.
NJCAA Region 12 results
Sinclair is scheduled to play in the NJCAA Region 12 Tournament in Battle Creek, Mich. from May 8-11. Sinclair earned the No. 3 seed with a matchup against Muskegon Community College on Friday, May 8, at 10 a.m.
“No matter what happens in Battle Creek, they’ve accomplished so much and they’ve overcome such a great deal,” Giambrone said. “We’re very proud of them.”
