Blindfolds were not in use on Wednesday, April 15, in an 8-2 pounding given by Vincennes University. It just seemed that way.

Vincennes pitcher Michael Son dominated the Pride by hauling a no-hitter into the sixth inning before catcher John Lydic ended the run with an RBI single. Son finished with four strikeouts, four walks, two earned runs while allowing one hit in seven innings.

Sinclair freshman Zach Botjer started the game for the Pride and had a rough time with his control. Botjer gave up four hits and three earned runs while walking four in five innings.

Pride first baseman Ricky Masson owned Sinclair’s only other hit.

The Pride finally got to Son by scoring two in the bottom of the sixth, cutting the lead to 4-2. But, Sinclair’s bullpen couldn’t hold the Trailblazers as Vincennes knocked in three unearned runs off freshman right-hander Dylan Brandenburg in the eighth inning.

Sinclair splits with rival Owens

Coach Steve Dintaman said earlier in the spring the OCCAC conference will be won by either Owens or the Pride.

After getting smashed by the Express 13-2 in game two of a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 14, Sinclair’s home record received its first blemish of the season.

Pitching was an apparent problem for the Pride as Owens destroyed baseball after baseball. The Express racked up 13 runs on 13 hits.

The Pride bounced back nicely in game two as freshman right-hander Jacob Robinson delivered a strong outing at the perfect time. Robinson pitched five innings, allowing one hit and two runs.

Offensively, sophomore Taylor Hoisington led the way with two hits and 3 RBIs.

As of April 15, Sinclair’s record stands at 4-2 in the OCCAC and 22-10 overall.
