Meg Reineke plays for the Sinclair Volleyball team and Sinclair Women’s Basketball team. Reineke is from New Knoxville, Ohio and she plans to major in Business Management. She hopes to continue to play volleyball at a 4-year university with one of her options being the University of Indianapolis.

“I wasn’t planning on moving on with volleyball but things just changed” Reineke mentions.

Reineke has been playing volleyball since she was 10 years of age. She played all throughout high school and received several awards. Reineke was 1st Team All League Midwest Athletic Conference, 1st Team District 8, Honorable Mention all Ohio, 2nd Team all Northwestern District Division IV, District All Star Team, High School-4th Year Varsity Best Offensive and holding record for most kills attempt (2,332) in New Knoxville High School.

Reineke knew she wanted to play volleyball at the next level because she “loved the game so much.” With several offers from different school, Reineke knew Sinclair was the best option for her.

“I would say I came to play at Sinclair because it was the best offer with college being so expensive. I also love my coach and I just love the school in general. I don’t want to leave” adds Reineke.

Reineke has found the same success at Sinclair as she did in high school by receiving several awards and recognitions. In her two years here at Sinclair she has earned 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-Region XII, OCCAC Volleyball Player of the Week (Oct 31, 2015), NJCAA National Volleyball Player of the Week (Oct 31, 2015), and Buckeye Charters Athlete of Distinction for the Month of October, 2015.

Reineke hopes to achieve a personal record of 1,000 digs and 1,000 kills here at Sinclair. With her performance growing and getting stronger she has also noticed improvements.

“I think my hits are better. I definitely hit harder and I’ve just become smarter. I’ve learned how to place the ball in certain spots. I would say I have improved and I think the whole team has too. We’re all just flowing together a lot better” Reineke adds.

Reineke mentioned her relationship with Coach K.C. Gan is very special.

“It’s nothing like I’ve ever had before and I can see myself staying in touch with him for the rest of my life. We’re definitely really close.”

Reineke and the rest of the girls on the Sinclair Volleyball Team have a very close relationship also.

“Specially this year not only just on the court, but off the court too, we hang out all the time and tell each other everything. Which totally helps when you’re on the court ready to play.”

Reineke stays hopeful for the rest of the season. She hopes that The Pride stay in the top three of the Conference to make it to Regionals, win, and go to nationals which will take place in Phoenix, Arizona.
